Dental Dialogues – Patience For Our Patients During The Holidays and All Winter Long
The team at Eglinton Square Dental Centre has been serving our community for well over thirty years and if there’s one thing we can say about that time, it’s how lucky we are to be in such a wonderful area, serving so many families including in some cases, several generations of those families. What that really means you’ll find at Eglinton Square Dental Centre, a family-oriented practice that is based on patience for our patients, not just during this holiday season but all winter long too. Winter can be hard on some folks and on some teeth. Sensitivity to cold becomes more pronounced and that’s why it’s important to know the importance of patience and how to handle the cold and emergencies, all winter long.
What Does Patience Look Like?
In our offices you will find a dedicated team of professionals who take the time to really listen to you and your dental concerns.
– Our reception staff will greet you with a smile you can “hear” even over the phone and ensure they ask all the right questions to book you the right kind of appointment for your dental issue; whether that means a visit with a hygienist, with the dentist and/or that you might need some x-rays or expert emergency care. With patience and a pleasant demeanour, they will ensure your needs are met.
– Our dental hygienists have patience for their patients at any age! They will take the time to demonstrate good brushing techniques, how long to brush teeth and show older children and show you how to floss properly. Education is a big part of keeping teeth clean and healthy and with patience and kindness our hygienists will educate, you, our patients.
– The Dentists at our clinic have more patience than you might have thought possible! We listen and share your concerns about your oral health, and we know just how painful a cavity, abscessed tooth or a dental emergency can be. That’s why with time, a gentle touch, and an infinite amount of patience, we’ll take care of all your oral health needs.
The Holidays at Eglinton Square
Perhaps you’re wondering how the topic of patience for our patients and the holidays are related? For us, that’s an easy one. Everyone knows that this time of year can be both a struggle and a delight and that no matter on which end of the spectrum you are – patience is necessary. Long line-ups, tired toddlers having tantrums, crowds queuing up for the latest electronic gizmo all require us to exercise patience. We’re located in a shopping mall – we should know! Perhaps you’ll have to walk past some of these folks just to locate our door, and if you are navigating the way while experiencing pain from dental decay, you could be left feeling pretty “Grinch” like. That’s why when you get to our dental office, we want calm and peaceful thoughts to prevail. Our friendly and relaxed setting prioritizes patients first.
Sensitive Teeth
Winter can be hard on teeth, ask anyone with sensitive teeth and they’ll agree. Gum recession, wear and tear on the enamel, these are just two of the things that can lead to sensitive teeth. Cold is also another huge factor, whether that cold is from ice cream or an ice freeze taking place outside! Did you know even changes in barometric pressure can cause tooth pain? If you already have sensitive teeth, not wearing appropriate winter clothing, such as a scarf or hat, can exacerbate it. Sudden temperature changes can cause dentin to contract and expand potentially causing dental pain, something that is more likely to happen in the winter. In short, it’s true that weather, particularly cold weather, can be hard on your teeth!
Dental Emergencies
To address the upcoming holiday season, we’re encouraging our patients to call now and find out more about our holiday hours and what we can do for you in the case of a dental emergency during this busy season. With three dentists on staff there’s a pretty good chance we will be able to take care of all your dental needs now and of course in 2022! If you’re facing a dental emergency, and you’re unsure how to proceed, consider calling the team at Eglinton Square Dental Centre – we might still be available and either able to assist you or to point you in the right direction to seek the help you need.
Remember never put off a visit to the dentist. What might be aggravating today could potentially turn into a painful, infected tooth tomorrow.
